Jaycees Donate to Build Hand-in-Hand Inclusive Playground

July 2017

The Jaycees of the Quad Cities has donated $25,000 for new playground equipment and fencing for the non-profit organization Hand-in-Hand, known for creating fun, inclusive learning experiences since 2000 for children and young adults, and parental support.

Hand-in-Hand, at 3860 Middle Road, Bettendorf, plans to use the Jaycees donation to pay for a Playground Improvement Project begun this summer, according to licensed program director Kayla Hoeck, who is filling in for development and marketing director Elizabeth VanCamp, now on maternity leave.

Those playground improvements will include a new fence to expand space, Ms. Hoeck said, as well as picnic tables, a sensory wall and more "adaptable" bicycles.

Jaycees of the Quad Cities Bridal Expo

January 31, 2015

The 2017 Jaycees Bridal Expo continues to uphold the tradition of excellence. This year's Bridal Expo is projected to be the largest bridal fair in the Quad City area. Nearly 150 vendors will participate in the expo and nearly a thousand brides will attend to plan their own dream wedding.

The event will be held at the River Center in Davenport, Iowa on January 27, 2018 from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM.

In addition to serving area brides, the Jaycees of the Quad Cities, through the Bridal Expo, serves the community at large. Bridal Expo proceeds are used to fund the Jaycee Santa Program, a 70-year program to provide gifts for over 1,000 area underprivileged children. In addition, the Davenport Jaycees have given over $725,000 of Bridal Expo proceeds to other local causes, including funding the new library at the Scott County YMCA's Camp Abe Lincoln, Sensory Garden at HDC, and an inclusive playground at Hand-in-Hand.

Imagination Station

November 2016

In November, the Jaycees of the Quad Cities presented WQPT with a check for $5,000. The funds will be used toward sponsoring characters and activities for the annual free event-- a family friendly event encouraging children to think about careers today with the help of their favorite PBS characters! Stay tuned for March 2017!

Jaycees of the Quad Cities and Rebuilding Together

April 29, 2017

Volunteers from the Jaycees of the Quad Cities are a plucky lot, getting down and dirty with yard work in the rain, demo work on a bathroom and kitchen, painting, and laying patio pavers. After a series of leaks left her bathroom and kitchen in disrepair, Betty didn't know what to do. The 70-year-old has worked hard at a variety of jobs since age 17, but between a car wreck, job losses, health issues, and back trouble, it's been a tough couple of years for her. A broken water heater and refrigerator were the last straws.
