Tips To Survive Your First Meeting

  1. We’re awesome! And you should join us and make us better.

  2. We say the Pledge of Allegiance to start the meeting. It’s kind of weird, but it makes us feel young.

  3. There’s a random question of the day to follow the pledge. It could be anything- and we want to get to know you. Extra points for creativity!
(And we apologize in advance if the extra point is a beer)

  4. You will probably hear some acronyms and odd terms. Sometimes we don’t even know what they stand for. See the little dictionary below.

  5. Jaycee chapters are split up into different regions in the state, and then all of the states compete in national (US) and then there are international groups. We’re taking over the world!

  6. We don’t sing unless a great ringtone plays and someone forgot to turn their phone to silent.

  7. We do however recite the Jaycee Creed to conclude the meeting. It’s probably the most cult-y thing that we do, but it’s over fast and no Kool-Aid is involved. (Unless the Kool-Aid contains vodka)

  8. “Like” us on Facebook and make sure to follow us for updates, events and programs. We’re not hip enough to use Twitter and have much more to say than what 140 characters allow.

  9. Introduce yourself to your neighbor. We won’t bite. OK, maybe a little but it’s because we’re starving and didn’t get $0.99 tacos at Rookies.

  10. We like to have fun, but we are also here to support the community. We’re good people that do good deeds.
